To celebrate the Christmas season, I’ve asked some of my closest(and most creative) friends to share with us their favorite holiday DIY projects. I’m excited to introduce you to my friends as well as their great ideas! They will be sharing recipes, decorating ideas, projects you can do with your kids and more. Stay tuned for the next few weeks, and hopefully we will all be inspired to be creative this season!
Today, Lindsey will be sharing a nifty trick to spice up your boots for the season. I shot Lindsey’s wedding forever ago, and have enjoyed watching her grow into the fashionista that she is. She rocked Ombre way before anyone else even knew what it was around here….and she rocked it well! You can check out her blog here. She even shot all the photos for this DIY project! Very Impressive!!
Thanks Lindsey for sharing with us!
Lindsey Lowe’s Fabulous Glittery Boots!
Here are a few words from Lindsey:
I am constantly on the lookout for new pieces to add to my wardrobe. Unfortunately, my pocketbook doesn’t always allow me to purchase some of these pieces. But instead of getting upset about not always getting to buy designer clothing, boots, and accessories, I try to find a cheap solution to this problem. Typically this solution turns into a DIY project!
Recently I was scrolling through the boot section on Nordstrom’s website and I found the most fabulous pair of glitter booties that I have ever seen. Of course they were in the upper hundreds of dollars (which unfortunately is not an option for me). So I decided to create them on my own.
Materials you’ll need:
Boots, glitter, paint brush, fabric glue
Step 1: Pick out a pair of boots that you want to glitter. The possibilities are really endless, depending on what type of look you are going for. I chose a rugged looking pair of boots to counter the extremely “girliness” of the glitter.
Step 2: Put the glue on the area of the boot that you want to glitter. I found that it was best to work with a small area at a time versus trying to glitter the whole area at one time.
Step 3: Spread the glue out with a paint brush. (This allows for a more even covering of glitter.)
Step 4: Pour Glitter over the area of the boot with glue on it.
Step 5: Continue step 3 – step 4 until you are finished glittering both boots.
Step 6: Let glitter and glue dry for at least 24 hours before you wear.
